Code of Conduct – Right to Die Europe
As a member of Societies that are members of Right to Die Europe each will promise to abide by the following:
• Everything that member societies do will be able to stand the test of scrutiny by the public, the media, statutory regulators, members, stakeholders, funders, Parliaments and the courts.
• Integrity and honesty will be the hallmarks of all conduct when dealing with colleagues within Right to Die Europe and equally when dealing with individuals and institutions outside it.
• Member Societies will strives to maintain an atmosphere of openness and transparency throughout Right to Die Europe, establish respectful, collegial and courteous relationships with all.
• Member Societies will not break the law or go against the statutory regulations of their country or act in disregard of the Objects of Right to Die Europe .
• Member Societies will strives to act in the best interests of Right to Die Europe and will take an active interest in the organisation’s public image. Comments made by a member societies on behalf of Right to Die Europe will always reflect the current Right to Die Europe organisational policy, even if the current Right to Die Europe organisational policy does not agree with the current views of that individual member society.
• Member Societies will to take every lawful steps and measures as may be necessary (including where applicable seeking to secure change in the law) in order to secure choice for persons at the end of life and in particular the option of a medically assisted death for competent terminally ill adults;
• Member Societies will promote the development of law in connection with end of life options including legally recognised provision for the carrying out of persons’ wishes such as living wills and advanced statements.
• Member Societies will take all the lawful steps and measures as may be necessary to relieve suffering for persons at the end of life by the advancement of the education of the general public and health care professionals in all areas relating to end of life health care options within their country.
